Because people can be a little vague and also don’t always spell things correctly, Google search has algorithms that try to figure out what you are actually looking for. So when you enter a search query, Google will try to be “helpful” and will modify or add to your search terms in ways that are described at this Google blog.

Google’s help is not always wanted, however, and Google has a new search feature called “Verbatim” that is being rolled out over the next few days. If you do a verbatim search, Google will use the exact search terms you enter and won’t try to second-guess you. The Verbatim tool is listed under “More search tools” (figure below).
